Michaela Rózsa Růžičková, a dynamic conductor and opera singer, shines not just for her musical prowess but for the uplifting energy she brings. Leading orchestras in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, she seamlessly conducts classical and contemporary works. Uniquely, she blends roles, conducting while singing. With over a decade's studio conducting experience, Michaela stands out for more than her musical expertise — her joyful approach creates an exceptional working atmosphere, making her a cherished collaborator in the music production realm.

EDUCATION

Michaela's conducting journey began at the Conservatory in Bratislava, where she studied under maestro Zdeněk Bílek, the last pupil of the famous Czech conductor, Václav Talich. Her passion for conducting and musical philosophy are deeply rooted in Bílek's teachings. During her time at the conservatory, Michaela also studied choir conducting and piano, honing her skills as an all-around musician.

In 2006, Michaela was accepted to the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she earned her master's degree in conducting. Her professors included renowned conductors such as maestro Jiří Bělohlávek, Leoš Svárovský, and Tomáš Koutník for orchestral conducting, Jiří Chvála and Lubomír Mátl for choir conducting, and František Babický and Norbert Baxa for opera conducting.

CONCERT WORK

Michaela began her professional career as a conductor and choirmaster in Children's Opera Prague. Since then, she has conducted numerous prestigious events and worked with esteemed musicians and organizations. In 2010, Michaela was invited to conduct the final concert of IMF Young Prague with the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK. After completing her conducting studies, she assisted in State Opera Prague with Verdi's opera Il Trovatore.

 

In 2013, Michaela served as the choirmaster for a unique project called "Viva choir," which created a choir of 700 schoolchildren for a massive symphonic and theatrical production. Two years later, she prepared a Prague production of Leonard Bernstein's MASS, featuring Vojtěch Dyk as The Celebrant. Recently, Michaela conducted and arranged a big and unique project in Bratislava, Symphony of Earth, and has worked among others with the Czech Radio Symphonic Orchestra, Slovak Radio Symphonic Orchestra, Komorní Filharmonie Pardubice, Filharmonie Teplice, Filharmonie Hradec Králové or Czech Symphony Orchestra.

Michaela has built a solid reputation as one of the most efficient and experienced session conductors in the Czech and Slovak recording industry, with over a decade of intense studio experience.

She has collaborated with some of the biggest A-list names in the region, including singers Richard Müller, Miro Žbirka, Jana Kirschner, Peter Lipa, Ondřej Brzobohatý, David Deyl, and internationally renowned acts such as American rapper Will.I.Am, music producer Onree Gill, Indonesian mega-band God Bless, and jazz guitarist Tohpati.

 

Michaela has also worked with esteemed directors (Agnieszka Holland, Jan Svěrák) and recorded film scores for composers such as Javier Navarrete, Antoni Komasa-Lazarkiewicz, Chadwick Cannon, Phillip Klein, Erwin Gutawa, Petr Malásek, Michal Novinski, Jan P. Muchow, Jakub Kudláč, Jiří Hájek, and Ondřej Soukup. She most frequently collaborates with music production company sCORE with celebrated Czech sound engineer Michal Pekárek and music director Petra Malíšková, and Czech Symphony Orchestra with contractor Lenka Mrázková
